To receive continuing certification, programs must provide a training
certificate for both the law enforcement coordinator and at least
one board member showing that training occurred in the 12 months
preceding the request for recertification. If anyone needs to receive
training, Texas Crime Stoppers is conducting a course for coordinators,
“Crime Stoppers Issues and Answers for Coordinators Course,” August
5-6 in Corpus Christi. Board members can also attend this course
if they wish.
To register for this course, go to the Training Section. Training
is also available online at the website of the Texas Commission
on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education, www.tcleose.state.tx.us
. Click on the POSEIT site in the tool bar to sign up for the Basic
Crime Stoppers Course or Basic Campus Crime Stoppers Course. Each
program provides the 16 hours of training required for program recertification,
and also provides four hours of in-service training credits to sworn
peace officers.
