Congratulations to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, Inc. for truly making its "Most Wanted" reward flier a MOST Wanted which is defensible in court.

The reward offer has the following features, which are commendable:

1. Informs officers that they must verify the status of each warrant prior to making an arrest;

2. Tells the general public not to attempt to detain or apprehend;

3. Does not generically describe the featured persons as being persons who should be "considered armed and dangerous," and only uses the words to describe a person who has in fact used weapons to commit a
crime;

4. States that the information was correct and current when published, but may no longer be current by the time it is read;

5. Does not use the word "fugitive" at all;

6. Actually features persons wanted on warrants primarily for crimes against persons.
